Every year churches all across America forfeit Father's Day. What a great opportunity to target not just our Fathers but all men connected with our local body of Believers. In this yearly talk about not forfeiting Father's Day, I share some thoughts on how a church can target and engage the men of the church. It is a time that men would expect a church to do so - so why not do it. If your church has not been using this day as a day to engage your men, I pray this Father's Day you will and NOT FORFEIT FATHER'S DAY.

The past two years have been tough on people as the world dealt with the Coronavirus pandemic. Regardless of what you may think about how the world reacted to the virus, the pandemic has resulted in people experiencing anxiety and depression being at an all-time high. I know that I have seen an increase in my personal sphere of friends and relatives. This has probably triggered a number of other issues individuals may be dealing with and even bringing back suppressed pains they have not resolved. If you have listened to me for any time, you will know I often talk about targeting men in the local church. Well, recently, I was invited to attend a one-night men's conference, and I want to give a shout-out to Temple Baptist Church in New Bern, NC, for being about targeting their men. From the time I walked in the door to the time I left, Temple was targeting me as a man. Everywhere I looked, I saw indications they believe men are important in the church's life.

As I talk with men and men's leaders, I often hear about the number of men struggling with issues. Rarely do men talk about these issues with each other. But we need to. We need to be there to lift each other up. To encourage. To pray with. And just support each other. In this episode, we will talk with Dennis Gillan, Executive Director of Half A Sorrow Foundation on the topic of Suicide Prevention and Mental Health. Dennis has been deeply touched by suicide after the losses of two of his brothers to suicide 11 years apart. Dennis has gotten involved with several non-profits that take on mental health issues allowing him to lobby lawmakers and raise awareness by sharing his story. The episode will help you better understand the issue that is plaguing many men in our churches today.
